Lex Carrington

_DSC6175I got an early start in the game of tennis and the art of coaching, thanks to countless hours on the court as a boy while my father taught private lessons. I played against the wall while he fed balls to his students, and often found myself doing some coaching of my own on the sidelines

In my career as a top national-level junior player, I was  a member of the 1992 National USTA team, and a competitor in all the Junior Grand Slams except Wimbledon.

Upon leaving the professional tour, I started my formal career as a coach. I’ve worked with top-ranked professionals including Vincent Spadea and Vera Zvonareva, helping them win major titles and championships.

My outstanding passion, though, is junior development. I understand the mix of joy, zeal, and determination this game instills and requires, and I’ve coached dozens of players who have gone on to play NCAA Div I, II, and II tennis; many of them winning national and international accolades along the way. I enjoy the technical side of the game, and teaching the mechanics. Over years of practice with top players and top coaches I’ve managed to gather some helpful, simple, fun exercises and drills that I think can help any player or coach achieve a better understanding of the game I love.
